  • As you may have noticed, Apple unveiled some new goodies yesterday. As you may not have noticed, I’ve written about two of them. First up, FaceTime video calling in the iPod touch: The big question is whether people want to see one another on the phone. I think the older generation hate the idea. I [more]

  • Doesn’t time fly? As you may recall, Windows 95 was a good operating system surrounded by some bad behaviour. In 1998 consumer advocate Ralph Nader wrote a devastating critique that accused Microsoft of “suffocating” the PC industry and argued that “the victims of Microsoft’s monopolistic activities aren’t just the companies that go belly-up; they are the [more]

Read me in books

My debut memoir, Carrie Kills A Man, was a Scotsman book of the year and Damian Barr’s Literary Salon book of the week, and it was shortlisted for the 2023 British Book Awards book of the year in the Discover category.

My latest book, Small Town Joy, is a celebration of queer influences on and queer artists in Scots music and is out now.

I’m also a contributor to the excellent anthology Fierce Salvage, which is also out now.
