Clowns are too scary for kids in hospital and are not the best decoration for children’s wards, according to new research.
A survey found that decorating wards with images of clowns was more likely to frighten young patients than cheer them up.
I’m only posting this so I can quote Jack Handey.
To me, clowns aren’t funny. In fact, they’re kind of scary. I’ve wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Oh that is fantastic (not that a clown killed the poor wee fella’s dad, obviously) I have always been petrified of clowns (except Mooky in Blackpool, he’s ace!) I couldn’t get far into Stephen King’s It, when I tried to read it years back cos of bloody Pennywise the clown! Perhaps I should have asked my mum to stick with Winnie the Pooh. Ho ho.
I suspect Mr Handey isn’t entirely serious. He’s also claimed that “Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis” :)
Funny you should mention It, because that – the cover image of Tim Curry from the movie – is what pops into my head whenever I think of clowns. Not that I spend all day thinking of clowns, you understand.
Ooh yes I love that ‘laughter is the best medicine’ routine.
Did you know that sanctity really means multi-breasted French woman?
