Lily Allen, drugs and the Daily Mail
Lily Allen tells The Word magazine that newspapers go OTT when talking about drugs.
The only story is that drugs are bad and they will kill you – you will become a prostitute, a rapist or a dealer. But that’s not true. I know lots of people that take cocaine three nights a week and get up and go to work every day, no problem at all.
Which prompts the Daily Mail to, yes, go OTT about drugs.

Ben, I don’t think she’s particularly wrong – that’s part of the problem with the tabloids’ demonisation of drugs, because people who do take ‘em or knock around with people who take ‘em know that not everybody ends up dead or selling their arse on the streets. Many years ago I did some work with the drug charity Release, and their experience was that hysteria led to a “if they lie about that, they lie about everything” attitude among people who really needed information.
