I did the one sitting thing as well. Although, mine was several hours in Stanstead Airport after no asleep and with a killer hangover. You think it brought you down?
Only ever read …Horses. Really liked it, dunno why I’ve never been inclined to read his other books – despite having copies of some kicking about the house.

The Coens ain’t what they once were. The Ladykillers was just embarassing (though Tom Hanks was rather good in it). I mean, fart jokes? Come on. Intolerable Cruelty was pretty good, but it was no Raising Arizona.

I keep forgetting that my opinion of The Ladykillers when I came out of seeing it was that it was much better than I feared, but still completely pointless. I particularly thought the use of music was excellent (in a Coens film? Surely not!)
Yet, I still have absolutely no intention of ever watching it again.
I did, however, think that Hanks was dreadful in it. All surface ticks, not character. But then, each to their own.

Let me go on record, yet again, as stating that Miller’s Crossing is the greatest movie of all time. Perfect. I’d probably explode if they made something that good again.
Not to suggest that their other stuff is anything to be ashamed of. Hell, I even think the Hudsucker Proxy (until Intolerable Cruelty, viewed as their big mistake) verges on genius. Weirdly, the one I’ve had most trouble with is O’ Brother. Must have another go at it some time.

The Hudsucker Proxy is genius. I never thought it was a mistake.
I did think Fargo was a bit dull, though.

The Hudsucker proxy is the only one I’ve seen. I remember enjoying it but not being quite sure what it was about.
